Viele Gruesse aus Brasilien. Nachdem ich meine Mutter mit Freund in Buenos Aires empfangen hatte, befinden wir uns nun in der Naehe der Iguazu-Wasserfaelle in Brasilien/Argentinien. Morgen fliegen wir nach Tucuman, um dort Silvester zu feiern.

Das ist der offizielle Weihnachtsbaum von San Miguel de Tucumán. Er steht neben dem Regierungsgebäude der Provinzregierung am Plaza Indepedencia.

Oh .. I see it has been a long time when I last wrote some words in English here. There has been a lot of things during the last two weeks that I hardly find the time to write some German words. The most important thing for me is that I feel very well here now.
This has serveral reasons. The most important one is that I’ve really met very friendly and nice people. The Argentinas which I’ve got to know better are very interested in me and ask a lot of questions. They offer help that I really need sometimes.
The next reason is that I’ve found finally my own place to stay. I’ve rented an apartment in the inner city of Tucuman and I’m happy about it. It has really enough space to live and is in a new constructed building. For writing postcards to Argentina you will find my new address in Contact.
Then I’ve brought a mobile phone. It’s very simple Nokia, but it’s only for phoning. I can be now called from Germany for a very little money. It helps me to stay in contact with my family and my friends! If you want to call me, have also a look in Contact.
My Spanish is also improving. I start to understand more things. Today I’ve took part in a small presentation in the university and I was surprised, that I’ve really understood something. I have to learn now hard and in one month I will only speak in Spanish to the people. At the moment I use the English very often when the Spanish words are missing.

I’m late with my first English entry, but here it is
It was quite a long ride from Leipzig in Germany to Tucuman in Argentina. It took me in total more than 33 hours. First a took the ICE train to Frankfurt and than the plane from Frankfurt over Madrid to Buenos Aires. On the 21 July at 7am I put for the first time in my life my feets on ground outside Europe.
I had to change the airport so I took the bus which connects both. So I went through Buenos Aires and I got the first impression of this huge city. In the suburbs I saw some poorer regions where people live in very bad houses, in the inner city I could see the colonial building and the big avenues, that look a little bit like Paris.
The domestic airport is situated next to the Rio de la Plata. I could see the whole river from my plane that I took in order to fly to Tucuman.
At 4:30pm I reached Tucuman. Prof Cuellar from the university was already waiting for me. The airport is a little bit outside the city and we had to drive some kilometers. On the way to the city center I saw people in horse carts on the streets. It is also quite normal that a whole family (4 persons) is riding on a motorbike.
For the first days I stay now in a hotel. I want to move out, because the room doesn’t have windows. This is not good for my mood.
Yesterday I went with Prof Cuellar and two Argentinien students who want to study in Mittweida outside the city. I saw for the first time in my life tree with oranges and citrons! The surroundings of Tucuman look really nice. There are also high mountains but at the moment they are in dust. We’ve visited an artificial lake which the people use to create current and for the water of the city.
At the night time I went out with one of the student, Eduardo. Night life in Argentina starts very lake. At midnight I met his friends in a bar. We drank some beers and at 3am we entered the music club. This club was not very full, but at 4am it was! The music was very nice, kind of latino style. There were a lot of nice womens. At 5am I left the club because I was really tired. I still have sometimes problems with the time shift between Germany and Argentina (5 hours).
